Fall Supervision Group 2020

with Beth Dennison, MA in MFT, MEd, LMT, SEP

Join us for a fall supervision series (meeting bi-weekly) to get support and case consultation, expand personal co-regulation skills, and learn how to use co-regulation as a powerful tool in therapy.

Get more connected, engaged and embodied with the people you see onlne!

Case Construction:  What needs to happen so that a person can show up authentically and take care of themselves in relational space? Practice case construction from a nervous system point of view.
Co-Regulation – When and How: Gauge when to start and how to introduce the exercises. Explore deepening your connection with clients online or in-person. Body up! Co-Regulation exercises are regulatory, diagnostic and therapeutic. Learn to use all three aspects.
Efficient Meltdowns: The exercises offer efficient ways in and out of deep emotional experience. Having reliable ways to cut through shame and rebuild connection supports people in building trust and going to their emotional edges without getting overwhelmed or dissociative.
Co-Regulatory Stance as Therapist: Cultivate being more intentional and transparent about power dynamics. Our clients need us to be in charge of maintaining a stable base. They also often need the experience of a co-regulatory human peer, so their nervous system can learn what is possible. Then they have a chance of building co-regulatory relationships into their lives.
Build Capacity: Resistance is just the nervous system showing us what it can not tolerate. Offer clients the experience of staying present with more intensity and complexity. It makes life and therapy go better.
Enliven the Therapist: Modeling relationships that are good for both people has to be authentically good for the therapist.
Contract for Co-Regulation: Offer clients, especially solo regulators, the option to learn co-regulation. Explicitly empower the client’s adult self.  Authorize yourself and clients to initiate co-regulation exercises.

Participants: Therapists in active practice who have some experience with Body Up! Co-Regulation or SE, or by permission. We are therapists who believe in and practice embodiment. Contact Beth to express your interest and see if you are a good fit for the group.
